Event Based Marketing: Hospo Edition

Event based marketing for your hospitality business is a great way to change up ‘business as usual’ and inject some quirkiness into your eatery. Every month there are a variety of international days with a quirky edge to celebrate. Here’s some ideas to get you started in November and December and get your customers excited about your business.

November 2nd: Cookie Monster's Birthday

Happy Birthday Cookie Monster!! What about making a ‘Cookie Monster challenge’ where customers can enter their best cookie recipe into a social media competition to win a prize. Or you could even just upsize your cookies in celebration of Cookie Monster.

November 7th: International tongue twister day

How about making your menu or one of your food specials a tongue twister? Or what about challenging your customers to say a tongue twister, and offer free biscotti or an upsized coffee order for those who can say it without any errors!

November 21st: World Hello Day

World Hello Day is a great day to celebrate the variety of languages and words that can be used to say ‘hello’. Have your signage full of all the different ways to say ‘hello’ and have your staff greet your customers by using different languages throughout the day.

November 24th: Celebrate Your Unique Talent Day

This is a great way to get your customers and staff showing off their party tricks and special talents. You could have photos of your staff shared on social media and have your customers guess at what their unique talents are, or put up a photo board which shows off your customers and their special skills.

December 2nd: Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a great day to collect for charity and shine a light on a cause you care about.
Leading up to the holiday season, it’s good to have a day to remembering to give back.

December 8th: Pretend To Be a Time Traveler Day

Pretend to be a Time Traveler Day is a great theme to send your business into the past or future for a day. What about having your customers make predictions for the future and displaying them online and in-store? Or have a dress-up day at work?

December 12th: Ugly Christmas Sweater Day

With Christmas on its way Ugly Christmas Sweater Day is a great time to celebrate those ugly sweaters we simultaneously love and hate.   • Take lots of photos! And share them across your social channels too. It’s a great way to market your business and its culture to your customers.
  • Be sure to signpost what you're celebrating so your customers get a heads up first and understand what’s going on in-store! It’s also a great way of getting passers-by curious about your business.
  • Find out what your lowest traffic day is, and choose that day to celebrate a quirky event, it’s a good way to get some extra sales and create interest.
